In not-so-brief
Studio C’est La Vie is a place to showcase the fruits of my photography practice. Photography has, in the past years, come to take a very prominent place in my life; a creative outlet that I can use to unwind and forget about the daily hassles. The fact that, at the end of the day, there are images to enjoy is a bonus.
Although I’ve taken my share of land- and cityscapes, it’s people that I am truly interested in capturing. Maybe this is for the same reason I pursue an academic career in psychology, or maybe it’s just that I find persons more interesting than things – I’m not sure.
What I do know is that I try to capture people at their essence, and thus I don’t post-process using techniques to ‘shine up’ the model with airbrushing. All post-processing occurs with the rule of thumb in the back of my head that if the blemish wouldn’t disappear in 7 days, I won’t remove it either. It’s part of the person, and who they are (though occasionally, like any rule, this one is broken).
I thoroughly hope you enjoy the images. I don’t intend to make a living off of photography, so anything I earn with it goes towards making more photos (and buying new equipment). I’m in the lucky position that I therefore don’t rely on any income from it, and as such, if you’d like to use any of my images, please pop me an email and we will see what we can work out.
Would you like to pose?
Please contact me using the contact form on this website. Make sure to include at least some basic information (your gender, age) and what your goals are for the collaboration. I only work with amateur / starting models on a TFP basis. More experienced models will receive a compensation.
Would you like to hire me?
Generally, I am not for hire as a photographer. This is, after all, a hobby of mine. If you are really keen on working with me, though, please don’t hesitate to just send me an email with your ideas. If I can use it to expand my portfolio, I’ll gladly work with you!
Would you like to purchase a print of, or the rights to, one of my photos?
Please use the contact form, I’d love to sell you a print of any kind, and work with you to make it really ‘pop’ ! Of course, all prints come with a certificate of authenticity and, if you want, I can advise you on framing or have it framed for you. I only print on demand, so each individual work is given a number in accordance to how many prints have been made and signed.
Please be aware I am very protective of those photographers that DO need to earn their livelihood using photography, and as such, if you intend to use my works for commercial purposes with the only recompense being ‘credit’ , don’t bother contacting me. It’s hurting an industry of creatives, and I have no desire to take part in that.
